Bicycle Safety Town!

Summer is winding down.  School is only a few shorts weeks away.  We are trying so hard to cram some summer fun into these last few weeks.  Since today wasn't outrageously hot outside, we packed up a picnic lunch and headed to our favorite place to ride bikes, with our friends, of course!

This little dude just learned how to ride without training wheels on Saturday...he was in hog heaven!

Max was checking on Pen...just to make sure she was okay!  That boy of mine, has the biggest heart!

After a hard day of riding, a cold ice-cream treat sure sounds good!  We stopped by our favorite local ice-cream establishment....(you know the one with the red bench out front!) but no pictures where taken there.  We were too busy enjoying every single bite!

Hope your Monday was as fun as ours!

New Job!

That title got your attention didn't it?!  Sneaky aren't I.

No, not me....I didn't get a new job.

But my kiddos did!

I bet you can't guess what they are doing?!

Oh yeah baby!....paper route here we come!

Our friends/neighbors are moving and my kids will be taking over their current paper route. It's just the weekly free newspaper, but I think it's a FABULOUS way to teach them the responsibilities that go along with a "job"and to start a good work ethic now. We are also starting them off early with the GIVE, SAVE, SPEND mentality.  I really think it's going to be a great experience for them!

Wish us luck on this new adventure!

I hope to stay this enthusiastic when it's really cold and snowy outside!

Rainy Day Fort!

It's raining here today, and boy do we need it.  The grass around here looks like it's August, all brown and crunchy.  We are all still in jammies and I'm getting lots of post vacation stuff done.  Hope to post some pictures some time soon!

Happy Rainy Monday to all!

Busy Busy....

Once again I've been bad at this blogging gig.  We've been busy, like everyone else and the time just gets away.  We've had the school carnival (thank goodness that's over!), we've been doing a few home improvement projects, and of course, the weather has just been so unseasonably warm, that we are spending a LOT of time outside.  It's no excuse, it is what it is!

However, I did get a few outside shots of the kids yesterday, along with our little friend Charlotte....thought I'd share.

Oh, and this fur ball had a birthday the other day....Charlie is 11 now!  What an old man!

More sweet memories....

With our trip coming up real soon, I thought I'd post some sweet "togetherness" pictures.  I'm hoping this will remind me of how sweet they both are.  This way when they are bickering at each other for the entire trip, my mind will be able to drift back to a sweet time....when they loved each other.

Wishful thinking, I know. But a girls gotta dream!

Summer Rules

Tomorrow is the last full day of school. I know, it's hard to believe, but summer is here and I'm using the next few days to get my "summer rules" in order.

It seems like the first week or two of summer vacation is spent yelling at the kids because they are trying to relearn how to get along with each other for the entire day. My hope is that my list of "summer rules" will help in this process. I'm going to really try to NOT yell.

So here is my list. I'd love for you to share your experiences with me as well. Any "rules" I should add or revamp?

  • Morning tv off at 8:30 am
  • Morning chores must be done before we do anything or go anywhere (Make bed, get dressed, brush teeth and hair)
  • 1 school worksheet per day
  • Read for at least 15/20 minutes per day
  • Quiet Time everyday (in own rooms for 30-45 mins.)
  • Make sure your stuff is picked up and put back where it belongs!

The rest of the day is where the fun comes in.....we don't have a ton of activities planned so that we can just decide what each day brings! I'm really looking forward to having a great summer with my kiddos. Making lots of great memories and just having a great time together!

Okay, I'm really for you to share your "Summer Rules" with me.
