The "new" blanket!

Remember this post about "the blanket", well after a little bit of time on the ol' sewing machine yesterday it now looks like this.

My mom called as I was cutting it up and as I told her what I was doing, I got a little emotional. I know, me?....you're shocked right!? But I was a little sad.

I was sad about how unimportant it seemed to my little miss. I just happened to mention to her the other day that I thought we really needed to do something with it. Meaning, fix it up. It's been around too long to just get rid of. The little miss informed me that she didn't really think she needed it anymore. (There I stood with a sad face ready to pout.)

But after finishing it and handing it back over to the little miss, she began to rub it on her face and cuddle it like I remember so well. I was secretly delighted as she informed me how happy she was with the "new" blanket.

So the blanket lives on....who knows, it might even be around for my grand kids (in a very long time from now!)

The Blanket

What's so special about this ratty old blanket?

I don't know, but it is way OLD and way RATTY!

If you look closely in the picture above....you can see that all the batting is separated and not where it's supposed to be.

And it looks like this in MANY places!

This blanket was a gift at a baby shower that was given for my mom....for ME!
So it is 37 1/2 years old.

I used this blanket as a kid, but it wasn't until I was a teenager that I started sleeping with it every night. Yes, I wrote that correctly, I slept with a blanket as teenager....and then when I got married....it was still with me! (Sad, I know!)

I even brought it to the hospital with me when I delivered Maggie!
(Warning....the next picture is totally hideous...please remember that I had a very difficult labor/delivery with this child. And please don't judge me...it's really bad!) But there, with me, is the old ratty blanket. Not looking too bad at that point!

(I totally can't believe I just posted this picture!)

But then she took it over and for the past 7 years, the blanket has become hers!

And I wouldn't want it any other way!
