I've been on a mission!

A mission to organize.

It seems like things mysteriously get out of their regular location during the winter months. Maybe it's laziness, I don't know....but with a street wide garage sale coming up, it's time to clean out, get rid of, and simplify!

First was the utensil drawer! This is the cleaned out picture, and sadly I removed enough utensils to fill a plastic bag...ugh!

Then the silverware drawer!

The kiddos do their homework here in the kitchen, and their "Homework" tote needed a good scrub. I threw away so many broken crayons and markers without lids and replaced them with new. We'll see how long it stays this organized. My guess is that today after school, it will be right back to "mess"!

The side of my fridge is currently command central. This is where we hang all the school papers, soccer schedules, church notes, and homework. It's a mess! Thankfully, it's on the back door side of the kitchen, so not everyone sees it. That makes me happy! This is the cleaned-up picture!

And finally, the junk drawer! Got rid of a lot of old pens and pencils....and all those why-in-the-world-was-I-keeping-that stuff!


Even though is still cold here, warm weather is on it's way and I want to be out enjoying it....glad to get the kitchen organized so that I can move on to the next room!

WFMW-Labels!

If you know me, you know that I ♥ labels.

Labels of any kind really, I'm not picky!

As I was talking with a friend yesterday about the up-coming school carnival, I reminded her to get her labels ready! (Yes, I'm blogging about you, Jody M.)

She wasn't aware of the use for the labels at the school carnival and that got me thinking that maybe others weren't aware either.

Our PTO sells raffle tickets that can be put into buckets that coordinate with a basket that you or your child want to try to win. I usually give my kids a certain dollar amount and that is how many tickets they can purchase.

Then on the back of the raffle ticket, you have to put your name and phone number. The waiting while your child fills out the back of the ticket is painful. It is even more painful if you have to do it for them.

Here's where the fancy labels come in.

Plan ahead. Make up your labels on the computer, I use Avery 18667 return address labels, that size seems to work best for raffle tickets. Then take them with you. You will be much happier and so will your kiddos.

This tip also works at merchant tents at festivals, or other events where there are a lot of drawings.

Anyway, I know many of you know this already, but this tip is to help those of you who haven't already thought of it! Hope it helps!

Look what we got today....

I was so stinkin' excited I couldn't stand to wait any longer! Buying for two kiddos this year was even more fun. Although, to all my local friends, our school's list puts the information in paragraph form. Can you say, "nightmare!" I would totally recommend making your own list (in list form) and going from that, especially if you have more than one kiddo to buy for. If I hadn't of been so antsy, I totally would have done that!

Oh, and I wish I would have counted the number of times I heard, "Seriously, people are already buying school supplies?!"

Yep, that's right....I may be a dork for getting our supplies so early, (and organizing them 20 different times) but at least I won't be in the "Back-to-school" aisle with everyone else in a few weeks. I'll be walkin' right on by!

Can't you just feel the excitement!
