Camping and another Bike Race!

Andy had another bike race this past Sunday, so we decided to take Harvey (the pop-up) up a day early and set up camp.  We went to Kickapoo State Park near Danville, IL.  It's a great park.  We did a little hiking while we were there and found this super cool tree that the beavers are obviously enjoying too!

Our dare-devil dad just had to try to make it across....it's higher than it looks in the picture...and a little too wobbly if you ask me.  But he made it....of course!

Maggie had to try it too!

Our campsite was great....lots of shade and some pretty good neighbors too.  Grandma and Paca even drove down to come cook-out with us.  It was great to have them join us!

We tried cooking biscuits over the open fire.  After a few tries, I think we finally figured out how to do it!  Just add butter and cinnamon-sugar....yum!

This is about the only picture I got of Andy at the race.  At the finish line.  I guess that's a good thing!

It was another great weekend!  Hope you all enjoyed yours as well!

Let the races begin!

Racing season has started. This means many of our weekends are booked. This also means that my man is trying to get in as many miles as possible for training. So I'm officially a bike widow.

He is also racing on a team this year which means it's not all about having fun! Although, Andy's pretty good at not-stressing-about-anything! No pressure for him!

Maggie is becoming a pro at the water-bottle-hand-off!

All kidding aside, we are very proud of him and love going out to support him! Way to go!

Pump It Up!

We spent the long weekend in Iowa visiting friends while Andy was a hour away doing a 24-hour mountain bike race. Yes, you read the correctly, they rode their bikes from noon on Saturday till noon on Sunday. Doesn't that just sound like great fun?!

On Sunday, my girlfriend and I took the kiddos to Pump It Up! What a great place. Basically it's a building with great big bouncy houses inside. My kids were the perfect ages....I could see smaller kids getting bounced around too much, but her kids were able to hold their own too. They even let the adults jump. Andy would have loved the place.

The best thing about it was it totally got out tons of energy the kids had bottled up and it made them a tad bit tired, but oh so happy! Just look at these smiles!

Oh, and Andy's team won the race...and that made him tad bit tired, but oh so happy too!

Another first place winner!

Andy rode another mountain bike race on Sunday. It was 95 degrees outside with a heat index warning of over 100. Let me just say, that you would never in a million years catch me on a bicycle in that kind of heat. Never!

But being the supportive wife that I am...the kids and I packed the cooler and headed over to watch the race. Well, I really wouldn't call it watch....cause he's like in the middle of the woods and all, but we were there, and that's all that matters.

There was a kids race about a half hour before Andy's race and so Maggie got in on the fun. There were only about 5 kids...and I think 3 of them were on training wheels. But there was another "big girl"...she might have been 7 or 8 years old. The other girl was in the lead the entire time....and then out of the blue, my girl passed her up and won the race. She was so excited.

She was so proud of herself. Oh, and did you notice....she won the race while wearing a skirt! You go girl.

Andy didn't do too shabby either. He finished first in his age group and second overall in the sport division. Pretty awesome for riding 15 miles in 95 degree weather. I truly think the kids and I are his lucky charms.

Great job to both of my bikers! I'm so proud of you!
