Family Time!

The kids had some time off school last week for teachers in-service, so we decided to take a little road trip to an indoor amusement park.

There was an indoor water park, bowling, arcade, go-karts, and laser tag. We had a ton of fun. And since we went on a Thursday night, there were no crowds and no lines. It was a great way to spend the day (and a half) off school.

Just the four of us!

Think I need a refresher course in bowling? I think so!

Chips!

I LOVE chips!

Potato chips, tortilla chips, ripples or no ripples, seasoned or plain. I love them all!

If you placed me at a table full of cakes, cookies, chocolates and sweet treats...I could pass on it all. But if you placed me at a table full of chips...look out!

If I had to pick a favorite chip, salt and vinegar would be high on the list! Can't stop eating those for sure.

I love chips so much that when I was working part-time at the office, my boss signed us up for the "chip-of-the-month" club. It was awesome. Once a month, a big box was delivered and we did a little taste test. I then had to record our findings in a fancy spreadsheet, but that's an entirely different topic.

Andy and I joke that we should have had chips and dip at our wedding instead of cake. That right there shows you how much we love chips.

My love for chips has brought me to the place where I rarely buy them. If they are in the house, I WILL eat them. So I just don't buy them. This is hard, because Andy loves to have them along with a good sandwich on a Saturday afternoon. I could just eat the chips...forget the sandwich. That is a problem.

Last week, as I was thinking ahead to the Lenten season fast approaching, I had to grab a bag. Actually, I knew I'd be giving them up and I had a Kroger coupon for a FREE bag of LAYS, that I just couldn't pass up.

However, tortilla chips do hop into my cart on a semi-regular basis. We use them for taco Tuesdays and often as a replacement for the yummy potato kind. These too can be a problem. On most Friday nights, we like to support the local Mexican restaurant where they deliver a basket full of warm chips and a bowl of salsa before you can even sit down. And in order to not be wasteful, I do my part to eat the entire basket full of chips. Again, this is a problem.

Like I said before, I have been giving up potato chips for Lent for the past few years. But this year I'm going to step it up a notch. I'm including tortilla chips!

Yes, I know....I'm crazy!

It's going to be hard....but I know I can do it. It's only 40 days!

So are YOU giving up anything for Lent?
